Course Overview

Day 1

  • Introduction to windsurfing: Recognition of the characteristics of the wind (on shore -off shore, directions and intensities) and the tools we have for this (trees, windsocks, anemometers). First approach to windsurfing equipment (parts and functions, sail, mast, boom and board), Physical preparation prior to the first sailing experience (observing the body's centre of balance and how it interacts with the sail), Distribution and posture of the body when lifting the sail out of the water and how to balance it so that the board moves over the water. Promote the proper use of the elements (waistcoat, helmet, radio) and safety zones, Correct positioning of the equipment to start sailing (wind direction, behaviour of the water, safe zones) Getting on the board, raising the sail, keeping the balance and moving over the water a few metres. In this first session, the return to the beach will be assisted by the instructor.

Day 2

  • Observation of wind characteristics and use of tools available, recalling the names of windsurfing equipment parts (sail, mast, boom, board, fin). Encourage proper use of gear (vest, helmet, radio) and safe navigation areas. Develop correct posture and balance skills on the board. Experiment with and understand some steering maneuvers (sail movements and board rotation, upwind sailing). Navigate in various directions, start tacking without falling into the water, sail upwind to return to the same starting point on the beach.
